Ministry of Sports supports summer camps at Al Hail Cricket Academy

Muscat: The Ministry of Sports has taken some path-breaking initiatives for introducing various sports activities during the summer months. Cricket has been chosen as one of the main events to be introduced under this programme.

The Ministry has chosen the Al Hail Cricket Academy to undertake and lead the cricketing initiative, which is a huge honour and recognition for the Academy. This will be the fourth year in the running for the Al Hail Cricket Academy managing this annual event.

Ahlam Bint Rashed Al Khamesi, President of Summer Sports Programme Muscat Team from Ministry of Sports & Affairs, has been been supporting the annual Summer Camp at the Al Hail Club under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports.

Abdul Ghani Al Balushi, Head Coach, Al Hail School of Cricket stated that the Summer Camp is commencing from July 23, 2019, up to August 22, 2019. He added that players can expect an a fun-filled month of cricket coaching, games and cricket skill development, all inside our world class, fully grassed ground.
All run by fully qualified, professional coaching team of Omani/expats.

The camp is for boys aged between 5-19 years old. Whether it’s the first experience with cricket or are an existing Al Hail School of Cricket Warrior, players from others academies /teams/clubs are invited to join the summer camps.

To attend the camp after enrollment, all players must wear suitable cricket clothing, shoes which can be facilitated or the players are welcome to use their own equipment.

Abdul Ghani Al Balushi, the Head Coach, is a player and coach of repute. Having cut his teeth in the local OCC hardball cricket leagues, he has played for various teams with distinction over the past decade and now plays for the senior team of Al Hail Cricket Team in the league.

He is a ICC certified Level two coach who now overseas and supervises the coaching of young players in the Al Hail School of Cricket. Abdul Ghani has always led by example on the field of cricket, teaching the young players not only the importance and technical nuances of cricket in batting, bowling and fielding but also the more important aspects of discipline, hard work, dedication, team work, and respecting all the players.

On a separate note, Ismail Al Balushi, Coach (ICC Certified Level 2), Al Hail School of Cricket stated that the Al Hail Club is planning to hold two separate tournaments, one for All Omani teams while the other is for Corporate Expat teams, immediately after the conclusion of the summer camp.

Since the tournaments are being held during the peak of summer, it will truly test the endurance and fitness of all the participating players. The twin tournaments are commencing from 1st August, running till 31st August 2019.
