People arrested for illegal hunting of gazelles

Muscat: A number of Omani citizens have been arrested for the illegal hunting of gazelles, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has said.
A statement from the ministry said: “The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police and the Environment Conservation Office of the Diwan of the Royal Court, have arrested citizens for violating wildlife and hunting gazelles.
“While they have been arrested and transferred to the competent authorities to complete the rest of the legal procedures, the ministry calls on everyone to comply with environmental laws so to avoid legal liability,” the ministry statement added.
