Algeria allocates 28 planes to airlift fans to Egypt

Algiers: Algeria's Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui said on Monday that the government will allocate 28 airplanes to transport national team supporters to the African Cup of Nations final (AFCON) in Egypt.

The prime minister headed a ministerial meeting and discussed all arrangements that will be made for the supporters' transportation to Egypt for the final against Senegal, a statement by the Prime Minister's Office said.

The statement added that the planes would take 4,800 supporters to Cairo.

Algeria's army's Ministry of National Defence also directed nine military aircraft to transport an additional number of fans to Cairo.

The Desert Foxes reached the final after beating Nigeria 2-1 at Cairo International Stadium, thanks to a Riyad Mahrez free kick in injury time.

The North Africans will now face Senegal, who defeated Tunisia 1-0 in the event's other semi-final match, on July 19 where they will have a chance to win their second AFCON title.
