Manpower Ministry helping sacked Omani workers find jobs

Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Manpower continues its efforts to provide job opportunities to Omani workers whose services were terminated by an engineering company.
According to the Ministry, 138 people were interviewed on Sunday and Monday for opportunities at 13 companies from the private sector. The companies are providing job opportunities which suit the workers’ experience and specialisation.
The Ministry said: “Only 15 of them accepted the job offer, while 78 refused due to the mismatch of wages that they were receiving from their previous work. There was little difference between the wage offered and the one previously paid.”
Since the termination of their services, the ministry has worked on preparing a plan to address the situation and find job opportunities for the sacked workers.
“The Ministry, in cooperation with private sector establishments, will continue to offer more job opportunities in order to employ all citizens whose services were terminated from Larsen and Toubro Company.
“They shall be keen to take advantage of the offered job opportunities,” it added.
