14% of kids on social media are under 13-years

MUSCAT:14 per cent of Omani children under 13-years of age use social media applications, National Center of Statistics and Information (NCSI) revealed.

According to NCSI, 76 per cent of children uses YouTube while 28 per cent of them uses WhatsApp and 14 per cent uses Instagram. Only 8 per cent of children uses SnapChat. "14 per cent of Omani children under 13-years of age use social media applications," the statement from NCSI said.

"The most common social media application among Omani children is YouTube, followed by WhatsApp with 2‪8 per cent of users, 14 per cent of children using Instagram and Snap chat come in fourth place with 8 per cent of users,”
