Cricket World Cup: England knock-out reigning champions Australia

London: Hosts England have successfully knocked out defending champions Australia from the Cricket World Cup to set up a final clash with New Zealand. England won the second semi-final by 8 wickets and with 107 balls remaining, and with the help of some sublime batting by JJ Roy.
Though Australia’s SPD Smith scored the same as Roy (85), his run tally was unable to propel his team to put a competitive score on the board.
Reigning champs Australia were restricted to 223 runs in just 49 overs as the English bowlers ripped through the Aussies batting line-up, always keeping them on their toes.
It began with Jofra Archer (2-32) and Chris Woakes (3-20).
The Aussies were unable to recover after their top order collapsed, in a situation that was similar to the previous semi-final.
Australian bowlers tried really hard to crack English partnerships but were unsuccessful, only successfully scalping two wickets.
A shaken New Zealand defeated favourites India on Wednesday to register a place in the finals.
Cricketing experts are quite shocked with the two teams that have made it to the finals as no one predicted this outcome.
