Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher on Wednesday and closed at 4501.41 points, up by 0.36 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 614.26 points, down by 0.18 per cent. Oman Oil Marketing was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Oman Qatar Insurance, up by 3.60 per cent. Wednesday’s top loser was Raysut Cement, which closed lower by 2.75 per cent.
A total number of 519 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR5.12 million with more than 10.43 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 17 advanced, 4 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR131,000 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR68,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR200,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.34 per cent to close at 6925.55 points. Oman Qatar Insurance, Oman And Emirates Inv. Holding, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Muscat and Gulf Investment Services were up by 3.6 per cent, 2.36 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.48 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively. There were no losers on Wednesday.
Industrial Index lost 0.13 per cent to close at 5555.34 points. Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium Products and Galfar Engineering were up by 1.18 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively. Raysut Cement and Oman Cement were down by 2.75 per cent and 1.14 per cent respectively.
Services Index gained 0.69 per cent to close at 2465.69 points. Oman Oil Marketing, OIFC, Al Jazeera Services, Al Suwadi Power and Renaissance Services were up by 2.73 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.74 per cent and 1.46 per cent respectively. Sohar Power was down by 0.88 per cent.
