Muscat: Problems with an electronic registration system caused long delays at some government medical facilities, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.

The delays at Medical Fitness Centres in Muscat have now been solved, the Ministry of Health has said.

A recent technical issue at the facilities meant that there were delays in service, which meant long queues for expats who require the medical clearance for employment visas.

A statement from the ministry read: “The Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat would like to announce that the overcrowding at the Medical Fitness Centers in Muscat Governorate has been dealt with.”

The ministry has worked to resolve the issue since it first occurred.

“A number of procedures and plans have been set to accommodate all clients today, noting that all necessary procedures will be taken to solve this exceptional situation.

“The Directorate urges all firms and individuals from the other Governorates to head to the Medical Fitness Centers in their Governorate,” the statement added.

An earlier statement by the Directorate General explained that “Medical Fitness Centres in Muscat have recently been crowded due to a slowing of the electronic registration system, which caused delays when completing procedures.”

A video had surfaced on Sunday showing a queue at what appeared to be a medical fitness centre in Muscat.
