Cricket: Obaidullah, Muzahir power PSM to massive win over ISM

MUSCAT: Young Obaidullah and Muhammed Muzahir Raza powered Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) to a massive 130-run victory against Indian School Muscat (ISM) in a Junior League 50-over Under-19 clash at Ministry of Sports turf ground 2 in Al Amerat.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, PSM recovered well from being 12 for 2 in the 6th over to reach 175 in the 33rd over thanks to 163-run fourth wicket partnership between Obaid and Muzahir who got out for 54 off 94. Obaid continued to punish ISM bowlers as PSM posted a huge 320 for 5 in 50 overs thanks to his 152 off 135. Adeel Abbas contributed a run-a-ball 37. Jyothish Shaju picked 3 for 72.
Muzahir took three quick wickets to reduce ISM to 36 for 4 in 11 overs. Despite Prathamesh Kumble’s solid 62 off 72, ISM failed to recover from early setback and was dismissed for 190 in 45.5 overs. Chahel Balasubramaniyan scored 34 off 53. Muzahir was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 for 26 while Obaidullah bagged 3 for 34.
Brief scores (Junior League U-19): PSM 320 for 5 in 50 overs (Obaidullah 152 – 19x4, 1x6, Muzahir Raza 54 – 3x4, Adeel Abbas 37 – 3x4, 1x6. Jyothish Shaju 3-72) thrashed ISM 190 all out in 45.5 overs (Prathamesh Kumble 62 – 6x4, Chahel Balasubramaniyan 34 – 3x4. Muzahir Raza 4-26, Obaidullah 3-34) by 130 runs.
ISM trounce PSM in Under-16 clash
ISM settled the scores with PSM the same day, winning its Junior League Under-16 match by 6 wickets, with 7 overs to spare, at Muscat Municipality ground 1.
PSM posted only 152 for 9 on the board in 30 overs which ISM chased down in 23 overs with considerable ease.
Syed Shan-e-Haider Zaidi topscored for PSM, scoring a fluent 54 off 50. Abdulah Iftikhar was the other notable scorer with 32 off 37. Ayman Ayaz bagged 3 for 14 while Navneet Krishnan and Arjunsuresh Dhiman took two wickets each.
ISM raced to the target in 23 overs, scoring 153 for 4 thanks to brilliant 57 not out by Shanmugurajan Kuttiraja and 38 by Adithya Sainath. Mohammed Inam ul Haq and Sozhab Sohail claimed two wickets each.

Harshith stars for Kone CT
In an H Division match Kone CT defeated Jarzez Trading thanks to an all-round display by Harshith Kumar who scored a quickfire 65 from and was among the wickets taking 4 for 26. Rijo Kuriakose chipped in with a useful 27 and Shivappa Hemanth remained not out on 26. Kone CT made 168 for 6 in 18.1 overs.
Chasing 169 to win Jarzez Trading in replygot off toa cautious start with Irfan Mohammed making 48 and Irfan Ahmed scoring 38 to reach a score of 164 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Harshith Kurmar was the main wrecker-in-chief with 4 for 26 and Vasudevan with 2 for 25. Kone CT won the match by 4 wickets.

Cricworld routs OUA Travels
In an I Division match played between OUA Travels and SAS Cricworld over the weekend, Cricworld beat OUA Travels by 9 wickets.
Winning the toss SAS Cricworld put OUA into bat first who went on to make 147 for 8 in their stipulated 20 overs with Mohammed Haneef top scoring with 45 which included 5 hits to the boundary and Ramachandran making a useful 32. Sujith Babu took 2 for 25 and Kenson Kent 2 for 27.
In reply Cricworld made short work of the target when they scored 151 for 1 in 16.2 overs. Imran Ali Akbar remained not out on 58 which was sprinkled with 9 hit to the boundary ropes.
