China claim first gold in athletics at Universiade

Naples: China claim the first gold in athletics as Zhang Deshun finished 34 minutes 03.31 seconds to win women's 10,000m here on Monday at 2019 Napoli Universiade.
Japanese runner Goshima came second with 34:04.65, followed by Sekiya in 34:05.84.
"I'm happy to win the title but not satisfied with the time. There is still room for me to improve," said Zhang.
China continued the dominance in diving as Jiao jingjing and Huang Bowen overtook the Mexican duo of Adan Zuniga Ornegas and Alejandra Estrella in the final round, scoring 381.80 to win the mixed title. Mexico finished second on 358.80, while South Korea's Cho Eun-bi and Yi Jaeg-yeong complete the podium with 357.20. Huang Bowen also grabbed a silver at the men's platform with 417.35 points, short of 36.35 than Mexican Balleza Isaias Jose Dieg, who took the gold.
The Chinese diving team collected 11 golds and four silvers in a total of 15 events. Top seed Chinese tennis duo Ye Qiuyu and Guo Hanyu swept Veronika Koberlingova and Katarina Stresnakova from Slovakia 6-1 and 6-3 to enter the women's doubles quarterfinal.
"The opponent did a good job. But we did better. Hope to win the gold," Ye said. Ye also grabbed a win in the women's singles by defeating Katyarina Paulenka of Belarus 1-6, 6-1 and 6-1.
The Chinese women's soccer team lost to Ireland 4-1 in the quarterfinals.
