Duqm Refinery forum to focus on Omani youth

Muscat: Duqm Refinery is hosting an exhibition to showcase its In-Country Value (ICV) Opportunities, which are aimed at the Omani youth and businesses. The exhibition will be inaugurated on September 29 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre. The exhibition will be inaugurated under the auspices of Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Oil and Gas. The exhibition is a follow-up to its ICV forum held in Duqm two weeks ago.
The recent Duqm Refinery ICV event in Duqm succeeded in attracting local youth who sought business and training opportunities in relation to the project. The Muscat ICV exhibition aims to reach out to a wider segment of Omani youth and explain the various opportunities on offer.
The event will last for two days (September 30 and October 1) at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre starting from 10am to 7pm during the two days of the event.
A special website is allocated for those who want to benefit from the opportunities offered by the programme including business opportunities, training for development and training for employment programmes by visiting duqmrefinryicv.om to register.
Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company is a joint venture (JV) between Oman Oil Company (OOC) and Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI). Located in Duqm, along the coast of the South Eastern region of Oman, the Duqm Refinery project enjoys a strategic location and has access to both the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. Being in the path of transatlantic shipping routes, it has access to markets both to the east and west, which would ensure that its products could reach markets faster and prove more economically viable.
With an aim to become a world-class refinery business, Duqm Refinery’s objective is to fuel economic growth in the Duqm area, as well as make a significant contribution to Oman’s future prosperity.
Once the refinery is completed, it will have the capacity to process 230,000 barrels of various crude oil per day. Diesel, jet fuel, naphtha and LPG will be its primary products. The project is located in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm. Duqm Refinery will be one of the growth engines for the special economic zone and will provide development opportunities for new projects that will directly and indirectly interface with the refinery. The refinery project recently celebrated its ground-breaking ceremony in Duqm and construction work on the US$5.75 billion refinery project is set to commence soon.
