Dubai Police honours officers for assisting Omani family

Muscat: Four UAE Police officers have been honoured by the head of Dubai Police for their efforts in helping an Omani family of 10 after their vehicle broke down on a road in the United Arab Emirates on their way back to the Sultanate.

In a statement, Dubai Police said: "His Excellency Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, has recently honoured four employees of Dubai Police for helping Jamal bin Suleiman Al Kamshaki, an Omani national, and his family after their vehicle broke down on the Airport road on their return journey to Oman."

According to Dubai police, the details of the incident began when the control centre received a call from an Omani visitor for help after his car broke down in a dangerous area on the Airport road, stressing that they moved to the place in record time to ensure the protection of all, and to avoid any accidents in the area.

They also pointed out that there were 10 persons in a family vehicle, including children, women and elderly people, emphasizing that care was essential to ensure their safety so they were transferred in a police vehicle and a taxi. A crane was required to move their car to the repair shop.

"Since the visitors were on their return journey to Oman, the four employees decided to support them until they receive the car and complete their trip."

The honour came after the Omani visitor posted on social media a thank-you note to Dubai Police for a sense of humanity and professionalism in handling the situation. During the ceremony, H.E Maj-Gen Marri presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to: 1st sergeant, Ali Mohammad Ali al-Jazai; police officer, Mohammad Zaid Nasr; police officer, Abdul Latif Hamid Al Nadabi and Abdul Wahid Abdul Samad, stressing that the honour comes in the framework of motivating and encouraging the employees of Dubai Police to exert more efforts in providing high-quality services to the community.
