UAE royal dies in UK, 3 days of official mourning announced

DUBAI: Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, son of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah has passed away in the United Kingdom. He was 39-years-old.

A three-day mourning period was announced in the Emirate of Sharjah, according to Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

His Majesty condoles with Sharjah ruler
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has sent a cable of condolences to HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasmi on the sudden demise of his son.

The ministry released a statement which read, "President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourns with grief and sorrow the death of Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the son of the Ruler of Sharjah, praying to Allah the Almighty to rest his soul in peace, and grant his family patience and solace."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, said in a statement: "I offer my sincere condolences to my brother Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi on the passing of Khalid Bin Sultan. Sincere condolences to the children of Sharjah and the people of the UAE. I ask god to fill the heart of my brother Sheikh Sultan with solace and patience, we saw your kindness and compassion for all the children of your country, we have seen your beautiful heart, I ask God to support your heart in what has happened to you."
