Tickle your taste buds at Pakistani mango festival

Muscat: It’s time for mango lovers to relish their favourite fruit as a wide variety of Pakistan mangoes will be on display at “Mango Fiesta 2019” in Muscat next week.

Express Line Services and Global Solutions announced yesterday that the annual summer festival celebrating the king of fruits is back and will showcase around 50-60 varieties of mangoes from Pakistan. It includes top picks like Anwar Rataul, Chausa, Sindhri, Dasheri, Neelum, Langra, and many more.

The event, to be held on Wednesday, July 10 at the Le Grand Hall Al Falaj Hotel in Ruwi, will be attended by His Highness Muhammed Salim Al Said as well as other official dignitaries from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Commerce and members of various diplomatic corporations.

Speaking to Times of Oman, Chief Organiser and a former Director of the Pakistan Social Club Oman, Syed Aftab Gilani, said he is looking forward to this event as there is going to be a huge variety on display this year.

“The 2019 Fiesta will introduce about 50-60 varieties of Pakistani mangoes to the Omani market. All the mangoes will be air-freighted directly from the farms to reach Oman in about 20 hours,” Gilani said. “The price of the mangoes will depend on the type and quantity you are purchasing. The normal box consists of three kilogrammes of mangoes and ranges between OMR3-OMR5,” Gilani added.

Asif Rasheed, General Manager of Express Line Services, added that they will be accepting orders online as well and will directly deliver to the customer’s doorstep.

Highlighting the main purpose behind this festival, Gilani said that the aim is to further bolster existing trade relations between Oman and Pakistan.

“We don’t intend to just promote Pakistani mangoes but will also be displaying other fruits and vegetables in the market which will further enhance the existing trade ties with our brotherly country, Oman,” Gilani said.
