PACP helps replacing customer’s defective car

Muscat: Oman’s consumer protection watchdog was able to solve a customer’s complaint by replacing a faulty vehicle with a brand new one, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) announced.

According to government officials, the PACP reached a friendly deal with both the consumer and car agency.

In an online statement, the PACP said: “Department of Consumer Protection in the Governorate of North Sharqia recently held a friendly settlement with one of the car agencies in the governorate, by replacing a faulty vehicle with a new one.”

“A consumer submitted a complaint to the Consumer Protection Department in Sur that he wants to replace his new vehicle he bought for OMR16,000 from a car agency.

“After using it, he noticed that there was a sound emanating from the wheel drum. He returned the vehicle on the second day of purchase and demanded that it should be replaced with a new one. In this regard, the Department has taken all the necessary steps. A friendly settlement was reached between the two sides in which it was agreed that the vehicle would be replaced by another new vehicle with the same specifications,” the department added.
