Muscat bourse closes lower

Muscat: Continued selling pressure in MSM stocks dragged MSM30 Index lower by 0.33 per cent on Monday before closing at 3,911.22 points. The Sharia Index also closed lower by 0.33 per cent at 538.95 points. Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Dhofar Cattle Feed, up 9.35 per cent, was the top gainer while Sohar Power, down 9.82 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 342 trades were executed during the day's trading session with more than 9.74 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 21 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani Investors were net buyers for OMR170,000, while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR167,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR3,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,331.14 points, down 0.26 per cent. Bank Dhofar and Ominvest were up 2.19 per cent and 0.60 per cent respectively. Al Omaniya Financial Services, Gulf Investment Corporation, Muscat Finance, Al Sharqiya Investment Holding, and Alizz Islamic Bank were down by 4.55 per cent, 4.55 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.30 per cent, and 1.25 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index witnessed decline of 0.77 per cent before closing at 4,631.40 points. Dhofar Cattle Feed was up 9.35 per cent and closed at OMR0.117. Oman Fisheries, Raysut Cement, Oman Cement, Galfar Engineering, and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 4.23 per cent, 2.70 per cent, 2.12 per cent, 1.25 per cent, and 0.97 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.62 per cent before closing at 1,926.24 points. Al Jazeera Services was up 1.77 per cent before closing at OMR0.115. Sohar Power, Renaissance Service, National Gas, and Oman National Engineering were down by 9.82 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 1.78 per cent, and 1.41 per cent respectively.
