‘Oman, Qatar to end barriers blocking smooth trade flow’

Muscat: The ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition will be held from November 5 to 9 in Muscat, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) have announced.
There are around 155 institutions, and Qatar has contributed some fund in these companies.
Dr Salim Al Junaibi, vice-chairman of OCCI, said that Omani-Qatari relations have witnessed significant progress in various fields, especially in the economic field, in order to enhance the joint ties between the two countries.
He added: “We in the Omani private sector are very happy to see cooperation and partnership between the Sultanate and Qatar, especially in the investment and economic sectors. We look forward with optimism to achieving more in this field, with unlimited support from the leaders and governments of the two countries. We call upon the Omani private sector to partner with the Qatari private sector in the priority areas of the two countries.”
He expressed hope that the exhibition would achieve its objectives and support OCCI at all times to establish such economic events that develop Omani-Qatari ties.
On his part, Saleh Al Sharqi, Director of QCCI, said, “It is a great honour and a proud moment to meet here today in Muscat to announce the seventh edition of the ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition, which will be held from November 5-9 in Oman, with its people, history, heritage and position.”
Al Sharqi explained that the organisation of the exhibition, with the participation of some 200 Qatari companies, is a message to all the countries part of the blockade and to all those who believed that the unjust siege would undermine Qatar’s economic progress.
Al Sharqi expressed his hope that the “Made in Qatar” exhibition, organised by the Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Industry and in a strategic partnership with Qatar Development Bank, will be an opportunity to introduce Qatari industries and their progress, and technical development. “The Qatari-Omani Business Forum, which will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition, is an opportunity for the two sides to discuss mechanisms and ways to develop and strengthen relations, and to remove all obstacles and barriers that prevent the flow of goods and investments between the two countries,” he further said.
The Qatar-based Qatar Vision 2030, which is one of the most important pillars of the exhibition, is the diversification of sources of income and the reduction of dependence on energy as the main source of income, inspired by the vision of good leadership that has given the industry great attention.
