Styling tips to make you look taller

There comes an age where we just need to accept our height and live with it. Unfortunately, we can’t offer you a solution to gain some extra inches, but you can try these fantastic style hacks to appear taller than you actually are (and it’s not cheating)
Match heels and skin colour
It’s a strange hack but seems to work really well. If you’re wearing a short dress, instead of wearing a vibrant, colour-contrasting pair of shoes, go for elegant nude pumps. It gives the illusion of slimmer legs, thus making you look taller.
Opt for slim fits
Let’s get one thing out in the open first; slim fits aren’t only for the skinny ones. A size 16 could flaunt slim fit shirts and skinny jeans as long as they wear it right. Straight-cut jeans are also an excellent alternate if skinny isn’t your thing. Simply put, baggy clothes can make you look shorter while dressing sleek makes you look taller.
Skip the layering
Layering adds warmth (and maybe style too) but doesn’t do much for height. Let’s just say it’s easier to stand tall if you aren’t bogged down by the excess weight of three layers.
Long sleeves
Long-sleeved tops, especially in a solid colour, gives the illusion of uninterrupted lines. In summers, you can always roll up your sleeves a little if you’re feeling hot.
Monotone outfits
There’s something about ‘colou-r coordinating’ that works really well if you want to look taller. Match your top to your bottom (and don’t forget the heels) or simply opt for a monotone jumpsuit. Simply classy.
Go short or long
Just not midway! If you love throw-on cardigans, jackets or shrugs, go for cropped ones or the ones that extend right to your ankle. Whatever you do, avoid the ones that stop at your hips.
Go vertical
This is the most fundamental rule. Remember – horizontal stripes make you look wider, while vertical stripes not only seems to take a few inches off but even makes you look taller. It’s no surprise that vertically striped pants are always such a hit.
