Seawater enters homes in South Al Sharqiyah coast

Muscat: Parts of Oman have been partially affected by tropical storm Vayu, according to reports received from people residing in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
Locals in the area have been circulating photos and videos on social media - of seawater entering some houses near the South Al Sharqiyah Wilayat beach.
Salim Al Ganboosi, who hails from Al Suwaih area, said, “Today is the middle of the Hijri month and the tide is always high at this time. This synchronises with the indirect impact of the tropical system that has caused increased height of the tide, which has led to drifting of some parked vehicles near the coast.”
Even people of Ras Al Hid (in Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali) woke up this morning and were surprised to find that seawater had entered their homes and flooded surrounding areas.
In the last update about the tropical system in the Arabian Sea, the Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA) said: “The latest observation shows that the cyclone “Vayu” markdown to a tropical storm and moved west/northwestward in the last hours. And according to numerical weather prediction, is expected to change it is the track to north/northeastward during the next 12 hours.”
