Expat businessman builds a mosque in Oman

Muscat: An Indian businessman has built a mosque in Wilayat Musannah, according to Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Balushi, Shura Council member representative of Musannah.

In a statement, the council member said, β€œIn a generous humanitarian gesture, Indian businessman Mohammed Kutty, Chairman of the Mecca Hypermarket group, donated funds for the construction of the Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque, in the area in Tharmad.”

Oman's minister of finance and the minister of sports were present at the opening of the mosque.

"The opening ceremony was held in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed Al Mardhoof Al Saadi, His Excellecny Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, and a large group of sheikhs and dignitaries,” council member Al Balushi said.
