Our 2040 vision: Committee meets to steer Oman forward

Muscat: Preparations for the national conference on Oman 2040 Vision scheduled to be held in the first quarter of 2019 and the progress made in the project was reviewed by the main committee for Future Vision ‘Oman 2040’ under the chair of His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, Chairman of the Committee.
The committee also discussed the options to emphasise the importance of their compatibility with Oman Vision 2040 at its eighth meeting yesterday.
According to the priorities, the topics covered the path of economic development.
The specialisation of both the government and the private sector to manage the economic issues and financial sustainability policies, as well as alternatives of the labour market policies with the need to attract skilled labourers with high efficiency, decentralisation frameworks required in the Sultanate with the importance of focusing on creating an integrated view between the urban centres and addressing the development gap among the governorates, trends of the global supply and demand for energy and their implications on the Sultanate were highlighted.
Among the attendees to the meeting were the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr.Ali bin Masoud bin Ali Al Sunaidy and Minister for Finance Darwish bin Isma’eel bin Ali Al Balushi.
The main committee discussed the alternatives available to deal with the issues which are in line with the Oman Vision 2040 and agreements reached at the meetings with different segments of the society on trends and strategic objectives of the Vision.
The main committee has made several decisions and recommendations on the topics listed on the agenda.
