Majlis Al Shura chairman Ma’awali praises Oman, China ties

Muscat: An official joint session of talks was held on Wednesday between Majlis Al Shura and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The session was held as part of the current visit of the Chinese parliamentary delegation to the Sultanate, and within the framework of the strong relations between the Sultanate and China, as well as the 40th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations.
The session was chaired from the Omani side by Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura whilst it was led from the Chinese side by Chen Xiaoguang, CPPCC Vice Chairperson.
The session explored means of enhancing the bilateral relations between the Sultanate and the friendly People’s Republic of China in various fields that would deepen the cultural, parliamentary and economic exchange between the two friendly countries.
The Chairman of Majlis Al Shura commended the exceptional relations between the Sultanate and China particularly in political, parliamentary and economic aspects, which reached their peak in relation to trade exchange and economic agreements.
He affirmed the Sultanate’s sincere keenness in promoting parliamentary cooperation between the councils of the two countries.
Chen Xiaoguang, CPPCC Vice Chairperson expressed his delight to visit the Sultanate. He pointed out that through this visit, he familiarised himself with the Omani parliamentary experience that would develop avenues of cooperation between the two countries in all spheres.
He described the Omani-Chinese relations as “historic, deep-rooted ties”.
The session of talks was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Al Shura, Sheikh Ali bin Nasser Al Mahrouqi, Secretary General of the Majlis and members of the Majlis Office.
Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura met earlier on Wednesday Chen Xiaoguang, CPPCC Vice Chairperson and his accompanying delegation.
He affirmed the Omani-Chinese deep-rooted relations and historic trade ties, as well as the importance of developing such relations through sharing expertise in various parliamentary and economic fields.
Al Ma’awli gave a briefing to the guest and his accompanying delegation about Majlis Al Shura, its legislative and oversight powers.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Al Shura and Sheikh Ali bin Nasser Al Mahrouqi, Secretary General of the Majlis.
During their visit to Majlis Al Shura, the guest and his accompanying delegation toured Council of Oman Hall and Majlis Al Shura Hall during which they viewed their modern electronic technologies. Chen Xiaoguang, CPPCC Vice Chairperson and his accompanying delegation arrived here last night.
