‘Plant for Pakistan’ campaign launched in the Islamic Republic

Muscat: A campaign to plant tree saplings under the “10-billion tree tsunami” campaign in Pakistan was launched earlier this week. The Islamic Republic’s Prime Minister Imran Khan planted the first sapling under this initiative in Haripur, a district in Hazara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The 10-billion tree tsunami plan will be implemented in the next five years as Pakistan aims to fight climate change in the country.
“Today we launch our tree plantation drive #Plant4Pakistan across the entire country. I want everyone to join this #GreenPakistan drive so we can counter the twin threats of climate change and pollution confronting our future generations,” Khan tweeted.
Once the drive kicked off across the country, Khan praised the efforts of all the citizens especially that of the children in Mohmand District, KP. “What a pleasure to see the children of Mohmand carefree & full of joy as they take part in #Plant4Pakistan. We are committed to mainstreaming of what was FATA & now is part of KP, in terms of human development,” Khan tweeted.
Talking about the campaign, Chaudhary Fawad Hussain, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting said on Twitter: “Pakistan is one of the seven countries most affected by global warming. Let’s play our role in saving future of our coming generations.”
As a part of the initiative, the government announced that people will be given free saplings at 190 distribution points across the country.
