Muscat: Oman's public transport company Mwasalat carried the highest number of passengers in its history by transporting nearly 28,000 passengers on the second day of Eid Al Adha this year.
The total number of bus passengers during the Eid holiday from August 17 to 25 reached 187,964 passengers, with the company stating that "around 28 thousand" passengers used public buses on the second day of Eid.
Mwasalat confirmed that there has been a noticeable increase in the use of its buses to thanks to awareness of various groups in society of the importance of using public transport, especially among Omanis.
"Mwasalat is grateful to all its customers for their confidence in the service they provide and promises them to provide the best services in the coming period. This will enhance the continuity of plans to improve the sector in the Sultanate," Mwasalat's statement read.
Mwasalat also urged all residents to use public transportation because of its economic, social and environmental importance to the individual and society.
