Indian School Muscat honours academic achievers

Muscat: Indian School Muscat held its Annual Khimji and Academic Merit Award Ceremony 2018, to honour academic achievers recently at the school.
The coveted Annual Khimji and Academic Merit Awards are given to students of Classes VIII, IX, X, XI and XII in recognition of their for academic efforts.
The function commenced with the national anthems of Oman and India, followed by the invocation and lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and the dignitaries.
The gathering observed a minute’s silence, praying for the flood victims in India and condoling the sad demise of A.B. Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India.
On behalf of the entire ISM family, Alina Thomas, Head Girl, hailed the graciousness and benevolence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and read the welcomed speech. Welcoming the chief guest and the guest of honour, the student council members presented terrariums, a new initiative at ISM.
The council office bearers presented the school report showcasing the achievements of ISM and its students in different spheres.
Chief Guest Pankaj Khimji, accompanied by Alka Khimji, felicitated the academic achievers.
Earlier, they released poems written by students Shivani Sarat and Shruthi Rajan, congratulated them and presented them with mementoes.
At the outset of the prize distribution ceremony, Eskalin Gonsalves, Vice Principal, Senior Section, said that ISM is engaged in building the future through learning. The toppers of all the streams in the CBSE classes XI and XII were honoured. Gold, silver and bronze medals, along with merit certificates and cash awards were given to the first, second and the third place winners respectively.
Achievers of all A-1s from Classes VIII, IX and X in all subjects were also honoured during the occasion. Stream toppers of Class XI received merit certificates and scholarships from the school.
The awards were bestowed in the presence of Chief Guest Pankaj Khimji, Director, Khimji Ramdas Group, and his wife Alka Khimji; Guest of Honour Mohammad Sabir Raza Faizi, Finance Director; Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman; members of the Board of Directors; Ajay Kummar J, President SMC, Shahab Haider Rizvi, Vice President SMC; Amardeep D Shinde, Convener SMC; Ghulam Hussain Khan, Treasurer SMC; Shameer PTK, Co Convener SMC; and other esteemed members of the School Managing Committee and the former members of the School Managing Committee, accompanied by Principal Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Vice Principals, Assistant Vice Principals, heads of various departments, the entire school faculty and the proud parents of the awardees.
