Expat arrested for bid to smuggle drugs in stomach

Muscat: An "Asian" expat has been caught at an Oman border post trying to smuggle drugs in his stomach, the Royal Oman Police announced on Wednesday.
The suspect was attempting to smuggle the 70 tablets of Morphine into Oman through Wajajah.
An official from ROP said, "The Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Department, led by the police of North Batinah, foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotic substances by an Asian through the Al Wajajah border station. He was caught with 70 tablets of morphine in his stomach."
Two other suspects in Wilayat Khaboura were arrested in connection to the suspect, as a "smuggler was on his way to them to deliver the drugs", ROP added.
In a separate case, another expat was arrested in Musandam for possession of narcotic substances. "The anti-narcotics and psychotropics police, led by the Musandam province police, arrested an Asian national with a number of psychotropic tablets in his possession," ROP said.
