Council of Oman role in national work highlighted

Salalah: The State Council and Majlis Al Shura organised a seminar themed “Council of Oman Role in the National Work” at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah on Tuesday, as part of the activities of Salalah Tourism Festival.
The seminar was organised under the auspices of Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Minister of State, Governor of Dhofar in the presence of senior officials, honourable members at the State Council and members of Majlis Al Shura.
The seminar included a presentation on the State Council and Majlis Al Shura that dealt with the roles, major actions and prerogatives of the two councils, as well as reviewing their legislative and oversight powers.
The seminar discussed several working papers on the Royal interest in establishing fundamentals of the democratic system and community involvement since the beginning of the Blessed Renaissance and the gradual institutional application of the Majlis Al Shura and its impact in enhancing the democracy practice in the Sultanate, besides a working paper on Majlis Al Shura and utilisation of parliamentary tools in practicing the oversight powers.
The seminar also addressed the role of the State Council in enriching the legislative and parliamentary studies on various fields and the harmony, coordination and integration between the State Council and Majlis Al Shura.
The working papers were presented from the State Council by Dr. Khalid bin Salim Al Sa’eedi, Secretary General of the State Council, honourable Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Meshaikhi, member of the State Council whilst it was presented from Majlis Al Shura by Mohammed bin Abu Baker Al Ghassani, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Al Shura and Sheikh Ali bin Nasser Al Mahrouqi, Secretary General of Majlis Al Shura.
