‘Strap ‘Em In’ drive: Ten parents win car seat vouchers

Muscat: Some 10 lucky parents won car seats for their children during the Times of Oman’s ‘Strap ‘Em In’ campaign.
As the campaign came to an end, the winners expressed their appreciation and joy at winning such an important gift/tool.
Ahmed Al Harrasi, a father of three, was surprised that he had won. “I couldn’t believe it, I asked myself how it was possible that my name had appeared. Initially, when I saw the campaign, I really liked the idea because it was a practical gift that could save my child’s life.”
Ever since the Royal Oman Police (ROP) issued a law on March 1, which made car seats mandatory for children under the age of four, many people began thinking about how they could contribute to ensuring their child’s safety.
“After the decision, I started thinking about car seats more seriously. This competition came at the perfect time. I am very grateful to the Times of Oman because they helped me purchase my first child car seat,” Al Harrasi said.
The aim of the initiative was to raise awareness and give away vouchers for car seats.
The campaign began on Sunday, August 5, and ran for five days; every day, two lucky winners won OMR50 each to purchase car seats from Babyshop.
“Car seats are very important for children’s safety; toddlers, especially, always jump around, and for us adults we can use seat belts, but they are kids, so I would advise all parents not to travel without a car seat,” said Lufthu Nazma, a mother of a two-and-a-half-year-old boy.
Nazma won on the last day of the campaign and has already bought a seat for her son.
“My husband and I were actually planning to buy a seat by the end of the year for our daughter, so when I heard I’d won, it was such a relief,” said Anita Doddy, a mother of two who won on the fourth day. “We went to buy the car seat the very next day,” she said.
“Thank you so much to the Times of Oman; we are so grateful for this award,” Doddy added.
