Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower on Tuesday and closed at 4,373.08 points, down by 0.20 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 605.72 points, up by 0.04 per cent. Oman Cement was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Gulf International Chemicals, up by 6.11 per cent. The top loser was Vision Insurance, which closed lower by 6.67 per cent.
A total number of 247 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.04 million with more than 8.23 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 10 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR246,000 worth of shares followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR68,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR314,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.33 per cent to close at 6,799.02 points. Gulf Investment Services and Bank Muscat were up by 1.14 per cent and 0.55 per cent respectively. Vision Insurance, Al Madina Investment, Bank Sohar, Muscat Finance and Al Madina Takaful were down by 6.67 per cent, 4.55 per cent, 3.05 per cent, 1.15 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.05 per cent to close at 5,489.46 points. Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Cement and Voltamp Energy were up by 6.11 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively. Oman Fisheries and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 1.19 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index lost 0.01 per cent to close at 2,370.93 points. Muscat City Desalination was up by 0.76 per cent. OIFC and SMN Power Holding were down by 2.06 per cent and 0.33 per cent respectively.
