Hundreds injured as Romanian protests turn violent

Anti-government protests in Romania turned violent on Friday leaving more than 400 people in need of medical attention.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators were rallying against the ruling Social Democrat government in various cities across the country.

As the protests heated up, some threw bottles and paving slabs at riot police.

In return, the law enforcers scuffled with some, fired tear gas and used a water cannon.
