Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower on Wednesday and closed at 4,435.72 points, down by 0.27 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 609.83 points, down by 0.55 per cent. National Bank of Oman was the most active in terms of volume and in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was National Aluminium Products, up by 8.57 per cent. Wednesday’s top loser was Dhofar Insurance, which closed lower by 19.80 per cent.
A total number of 325 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.14 million with more than 7.07 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 21 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR83,000 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR1,000, while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR85,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.22 per cent to close at 6,865.69 points. Muscat Finance, National Bank Of Oman and Ominvest were up by 2.22 per cent, 2.15 per cent and 1.76 per cent respectively. Dhofar Insurance, Al Madina Investment, Gulf Investment Services, Alizz Islamic Bank and Bank Nizwa were down by 19.8 per cent, 4.55 per cent, 3.23 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.06 per cent to close at 5,564.22 points. National Aluminium Products and Voltamp Energy were up by 8.57 per cent and 2.11 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics, Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement and Oman Fisheries were down by 2.56 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.41 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index lost 0.48 per cent to close at 2,396.53 points. There were no gainers on Wednesday. Al Batinah Power, OIFC, Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Services and Phoenix Power were down by 2.52 per cent, 2.00 per cent, 1.71 per cent, 0.88 per cent and 0.85 per cent respectively.
