Omanis, expatriates rescued from burning building by firefighters

Muscat: Men, women and children, who were stranded inside a burning residential building, were rescued by firefighters from the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) in Muscat.
An official from PACDA told the Times of Oman that “none of the eight individuals stranded were injured in the fire”.
It took the authorities between seven minutes to arrive at the scene from the time they received information about the incident. Describing the incident, the official said: “Our operation centre received a report about smoke from an apartment building at 7.43am in northern Ghubra in the wilayat of Bausher. In light of the report, a water tank with 4,500 gallons of water, a hydraulic lever, and an ambulance arrived on site by 7.50am.”
When authorities reached the building, they realised there were people stranded inside.
“The fire was concentrated on the third floor in one of the kitchens of the apartment, causing heavy smoke to spread inside the building,” the official added.
The eight people included expats and Omani men, women, and children.
“We rescued them between three and five minutes using a hydraulic crane and sent them to the ambulance to ensure they were in good health,” he said.
