Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: Trading activity remained poor with Renaissance Day holiday scheduled for Monday. The MSM30 index declined 0.34 per cent to close at 4,433.06 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 626.47 points, down 0.93 per cent. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Monday's top gainer was Oman & Emirates Holding, up by 9.52 per cent, while the top loser was Raysut Cement, down 9.73 per cent.
A total number of 198 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR517,000 with more than 2.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 22 traded stocks, 2 advanced, 10 declined and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR307,000 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR7,000, while Foreign Investors remained net sellers for OMR314,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index ended flat at 6,900.65 points, down 0.04 per cent. Oman & Emirates Inv. Holding and Bank Nizwa gained 9.52 per cent and 1.15 per cent respectively. Taageer Finance, Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investments, Gulf Investment Services and Al Madina Takaful decreased 8.26 per cent, 5.08 per cent, 3.67 per cent, 2.17 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index had sharp loss of 1.02 per cent to finish at 5,731.67 points. Raysut Cement was the only sector mover with heavy loss of 9.73 per cent.
Services Sector Index closed at 2,408.98 points, down 0.14 per cent. OIFC, Al Jazeera Services and Omantel lost 1.96 per cent, 0.88 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
