Muscat: Oman's Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has launched a new survey asking the general public about upcoming legilsation to ban the use of plastic bags in malls and stores.
In a post on Twitter, the ministry said, "Do you want to end the use of plastic bags in stores and malls and replace them with biodegradable or reusable bags? Vote and share your opinion and suggestions below the tweet."
So far 2,558 votes have been cast since the survey opened Wednesday morning, with 88 per cent agreeing with the legislation and 12 per cent voting no.
