Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 4580.34 points, down by 0.26 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 653.33 points, down by 0.18 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day, Muscat Desalination, up by 2.74 per cent while Al Madina Investment down by 1.89 per cent was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 379 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.27 million with more than 10.97 million shares changing hands. Out of 27 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 9 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR272,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR175,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR447,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index marginally lower by 0.06 per cent to close at 7177.67 points, marginally down by 0.07 per cent. Al Madina Takaful and HSBC Bank Oman gained by 0.97 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, Bank Muscat and Bank Sohar declined by 1.89 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.71 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended Wednesday’s session at 6058.13 points, down by 0.33 per cent. Oman Cement, Al Anwar Ceramics and Galfar Engineering declined by 1.06 per cent, 0.91 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index down by 0.16 per cent to close at 2458.34 points. Muscat Desalination was the only gainer and was up by 2.74 per cent to close at OMR0.150. Jazeira Services and Oreedoo Oman declined by 1.28 per cent and 0.78 per cent respectively.
