Oman share index ends higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher at 4592.16 points, up by 0.16 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 653.33 points, down by 0.18 per cent. Bank Sohar was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer of the day was National Bank of Oman, up by 282 per cent while Galfar Engineering down by 2.65 per cent was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 519 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.65 million with more than 17.04 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 10 declined and 12 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR357,000 while GCC & Arab investors switched were net sellers for OMR278,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR80,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained by 0.18 per cent to close at 7182.24 points, marginally down by 0.07 per cent. National Bank of Oman, Muscat Finance , HSBC Bank Oman , Bank Sohar and OMINVEST gained by 2.82 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 0.92 per cent, 0.72 per cent and 0.56 per cent, respectively. Al Madina Takaful, Bank Muscat, Al Sharqiya Investment and Al Anwar Holding declined by 1.90 per cent, 1.03 per cent, 0.84 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended Tuesday's session at 6077.98 points, down by 0.46 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries, Al Maha Ceramics and Voltamp Energy declined by 2.65 per cent, 1.74 per cent, 1.68 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index up by 0.15 per cent to close at 2,462.18 points. National Gas, OIFC and Omantel gained by 2.35 per cent, 0.87 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services and Al Jazeera Services declined by 1.54 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively.
