Oman Table tennis: Sai Saran clinches three titles at ISC tourney

Muscat: P. Sai Saran stole the show, capturing three titles as the curtains came down on the Annual Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Indian Social Club (ISC).

The final day’s play belonged to Sai Saran who claimed both the titles at stake. Saran captured the men’s singles title and followed it up with the men’s doubles to add to the mixed doubles which he had won earlier.

In a thrilling men’s singles final, Sai Saran edged past fancied Shounak Kelkar whome he overwhelmed with scores of 15-13, 6-11, 13-11, 11-9, 10-12, 6-11, 11-5.

Together with partner Subash Pillai, the top seeded duo overcame the spirited challenge of Areeb Usman and Pranav Vinod in an exciting doubles final.

Sai Saran and Subash won the title 12-10, 5-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-7, 11-9.

ISC chairman Dr. Sathish Nambiar and vice-chairman C. M. Sardar distributed the prizes.

The tournament was dedicated to late Anoop Bheda, a senior member of the ISC and a passionate table tennis player who passed away during the tournament.
