Establishments must apply for custom exemption for each industrial license separately

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has urged industrial establishments to apply for exemption for each industrial licenses separately, and use exemption decision for each branch separately from the other branch. This is in accordance with the customs exemption terms and conditions to avoid any problems could be faced by the companies in the future while seeking incentives for customs exemption.
Ibtisam bint Mohammad Al Alawaiyah, secretary of industrial registrations in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said: "According to the Ministerial Decisions nos. 65 and 66/2009 issued by the Ministry of Finance regarding customs exemption regulations for industrial establishments, industrial establishments must comply with all the provisions of the decisions governing customs exemptions."
She said that it was noticed that some industrial establishments were not complying with customs exemption decisions by using exemption of the materials for the purpose they are not meant. This is a violation of the regulations governing this issue. It may expose the establishments to legal problems in the future.
"The industrial establishment must comply with all the provisions of the decisions governing customs exemptions and ensure that the exempted materials are used for the purpose for which they were meant for," she added.
Ibtisam Alawaiyah said that while applying for the customs exemption, the industrial establishment must abide by the conditions stipulated in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) common industrial law.
