Arabian Sea depression upgraded to 'tropical storm'

Muscat: A low-pressure weather system has been upgraded to the status of 'tropical storm', and is 900 km off the coast of Salalah, Oman's Public Authority for Civil Aviation has announced.
The nearest cloud accompanying the storm is 400 km away from Salalah. Satellite images showed that it will start raining in Dhofar and Wusta on Thursday morning.
The centre of the storm, currently at latitude 9.5°N and longitude 57°E, will approach the coasts of Dhofar and Wusta on Friday and Saturday, with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds. Sea will be rough on the coasts of Dhofar and Wusta, reaching between 5 and 8 metres.
PACA has advised people not to venture into wadis and to avoid low-lying areas. Sea-farers have also been asked not to venture into sea without updating themselves on latest forecasts.
