PACDA receives 90 calls for help during heavy rain

Muscat: The operations centre at the Public Authority of Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) received 90 calls for rescue during the low depression witnessed by the Sultanate from May 19 to May 21.

Specialised teams including firefighters, water and land rescue teams, search and rescue teams and ambulance personnel dealt with these rescue calls.

Colonel Mubarak Al Araimi, the Director General of Operations and Training at PACDA said: “PACDA dealt with 90 rescue calls and conducted 37 rescue operations.

As for calls recorded by various governorates, North Sharqiyah registered the biggest number, which resulted in 19 rescue operations, followed by Muscat which recorded 17 rescue operations.

The death toll from the thundershowers and flash floods which hit Oman stood at six.
