Massive fire breaks out at Dubai residential tower

Muscat: Emergency services in Dubai have put out a massive fire at a residential tower in the popular Dubai Marina district of the city.
The Dubai Media Office put out a statement saying the fire had been doused despite heavy winds and dust, with no injuries being reported.
The residential skyscraper, known as the Zen Tower, burst into flames at about 11:00 am this morning, close to the Marina Mall, near the Sheikh Zayed Road, the main thoroughfare in Dubai, near Jebel Ali.
An earlier statement from the Government of Dubai’s media office said: "Dubai Civil Defence is working to put out a fire that broke out in the Zen Tower in the Dubai Marina area. The building was evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported."
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
According to Marina resident George Heard, this is the fourth building in the Dubai Marina to catch fire in the last two months.
"4 Buildings in Dubai Marina caught fire in the last 2 months," he tweeted. "That's a brand new residential building." In addition, several of Dubai's iconic skyscrapers have caught fire in the recent past.
On New Years Eve in 2015, the luxury Address Downtown Hotel caught fire, prompting a mass evacuation of the surrounding areas, which also includes the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, where the city's biggest New Years' celebration takes place.
In addition, in 2017, the Dubai Torch, another building in the Marina, caught fire after a recklessly thrown cigarette ignited some plants and spread to the building’s flammable cladding, damaging 38 apartments across 64 floors.
