Sports ministry honours youth award winners

Muscat: The Ministry of Sports Affairs on Monday organised a ceremony to honour the winners of Youth Excellence and Achievement Award (Injazatuna), under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour Al Hassani, Minister of Information, in the presence of Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed Al Mardouf Al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs.
He said that this award is an important addition to any young man who gets a local or international achievement. He thanked the Ministry of Sports Affairs for sponsoring the youth and their achievements in various local, Arab and international fields.
After that, a presentation was made about some of the youth and sports achievements and some of the details of the award. Then the poet Munthir Al Futaisi recited a poem, after which the winners were honored in the various categories of the award.
Runner Mohammed bin Hamdan Al Sulaimani won the category of sport achievement and excellence (individual) for the bronze medal achieved at the Asian Athletics Championships in Thailand.
The award of the same category (team) went to the national football team who won the title of the Gulf Cup 23 held in Kuwait. The Omani Table Tennis Committee won the category of institutional excellence and achievement award (institutions). Salim bin Ahmed Al Habsi won the award in the youth excellence and achievement category (individual) after winning the GCC Leaders’ Award for Creativity and Excellence in the field of invention.
The Mazoon Theater Team won the award in the youth achievement and excellence category (team). For the persons with disability category Mohammed bin Jamil Al Masheikhy won the award for the individual athlete contenders for the silver medal he won at the World Para Athletics Championships in London 2017.
