Joko Widodo wins second term as President

Muscat: The incumbent President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo has won a second term to lead the world's largest Muslim-majority nation, according to final results released by the country's election commission.

The results showed Widodo and his running mate Amin Maarouf secured 55.5 percent of the vote, beating rivals Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno.

Subianto has alleged widespread cheating occurred in the race and urged his supporters to hold peaceful rallies in protest, according to state media.

The 17 April polls were the biggest in the country's history, with over 190 million eligible voters selecting their presidential, parliamentary, and regional candidates of choice on a single day. The massive exercise saw voters choose from 245,000 candidates with over 20,000 seats up for grabs.
