Fake news: SQU denies food delivery ban

Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University has denied rumors circulating on social media about it banning restaurant delivery services to the university.

Hilal Al-Badi, deputy director of media at Sultan Qaboos University told the Times of Oman: "There is no discussion about a decision to ban the delivery of restaurants to the university. According to the Deanship of Student Affairs laws, restaurant delivery services are prohibited from entering the university after 11 pm only. At all other times, restaurant delivery is available to all, whether employees or students, and there is no new rule in food delivery service," Al Badi.

The rumour that had been circulated on Twitter read, "Sultan Qaboos University issued a new decision to block outside restaurants for delivering orders to SQU students who live in the university's housing complex. And SQU students are required to revoke this decision."
