Oman share index recovers

Muscat: The MSM30 Index recovered 0.30 per cent to close at 4,796.23 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 678.30 points, up 0.09 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was also Galfar Engineering, up 7.53 per cent while the top loser was Muscat Thread Mills, down 6.17 per cent.
A total number of 803 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR2.69 million with 18.73 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded securities, 9 advanced, 11 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR24,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR8,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR32,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,203.39 points, down 0.09 per cent. Muscat Finance and Muscat Insurance gained 4.63 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively. Taageer Finance, Oman & Emirates Holding, Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Takaful and Al Anwar Holding declined 3.97 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.14 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.17 per cent to finish at 6,662.25 points. Galfar Engineering, up 7.53 per cent, was the sole sector gainer. Muscat Thread Mills, National Aluminium, Al Anwar Ceramics and Al Maha Ceramics declined 6.17 per cent, 3.97 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 1.41 per cent respectively.
Services Index had gains of 0.54 per cent to end at 2,529.94 points. Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, Ooredoo, Omantel and Renaissance Service increased 3.09 per cent, 2.34 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 0.62 per cent respectively. MCDE and National Gas declined 1.91 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively.
