Haitham takes part in Uzbek library opening

Tashkent: As part of a mandate by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the new Abu Rayhan Al Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies library was officially opened on Thursday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said was guest of honour at the opening, accompanied by Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and Uzbek Academy of Sciences President Bekhzod Yuldashev. Sayyid Haitham was accompanied by an official Omani delegation, including Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Salmi and Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Oman’s ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan Mohammed Said Mohammed Al Lawati was also part of the delegation, in addition to a number of government officials and diplomats.
