Muscat Municipality celebrates linkage with Arab Cities Organisation

Muscat: Muscat Municipality celebrated 51 years with Arab Cities Organisation (ACO), which on Wednesday unveiled its new slogan, ‘Sustainable cities for the happiness of the inhabitants’.
The municipality is an active member of organisations and institutions concerned with municipal affairs, and has accomplished many achievements, both domestically and internationally. The ACO was founded in 1967.
Talking about this year’s slogan, Eng. Ahmed bin Hamad Al Sabeeh, Secretary General of the Arab Cities Organisation, said, “We wanted the celebration to be qualitatively different from the last 50 years. Therefore, this year’s commemorative slogan revolves around inclusive and sustainable development, while implementing the goals of 2030, as incorporated in the agenda.”
Khalid bin Muhammad bin Oman Bahram, Assistant Chairman of Muscat Municipality for the Services Affairs, applauded the partnership it shares with Arab institutions specialised in the field of municipal employment - most notably the Arab Cities Organisation – through the exchange of experiences, the strengthening of relations and the utilisation of expertise in the areas of the development of cities. Muscat Municipal services and projects are distributed to cover all willayats of Muscat Governorate, which include Muscat, Muttrah, Bausher, Seeb, Amerat and Quriyat.
The most recent projects implemented by the municipality are the projects for duplicating the Al Khoud carriage way, which has ensured the smooth movement of vehicles and motorists, and the 1,200 metre service road on the Amerat-Al Jabal road – which connects the Amerat Heights area.
Also, the construction of a park in Al Khoud in the area of Seeb, with a surface area of about 15,000 square metres, which includes a playground for children, a baseball and a football field, as well as a walkway for strollers.
Furthermore, the Municipality Communication Center has recently obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification after passing all requirements, according to international standards, representing the efforts made by the Center aimed at improving and simplifying business procedures.
