ROP thwart diesel smuggling attempt

Muscat: Thirteen Asian expats were arrested on charges of smuggling diesel, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.

The Musandam Coastguard seized two boats that were attempting to smuggle diesel.

In an online statement, ROP said: "Musandam Coast Guard police boats seized two diesel smuggling boats near Ras Makan area in Wilayat Khasab, carrying 13 people of Asian nationality, and the individuals were arrested on charges of diesel smuggling."

Meanwhile, North Batinah Police seized one boat with 17 illegal immigrants near Hai Al Saad in the Wilayat of Suwaiq.

Legal action is being taken against the accused.
