Municipality raids house used to cook, sell food illegally

Muscat: The Muscat Municipality raided a house in the Wilayat of Muttrah, where people were found cooking food that was being sold to cafes and restaurants, without a licence to do so.

After being notified about this by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection and the Muscat Municipality in Muttrah, the Inspection and Food Control Department in cooperation with the Department of Hygiene, Legal Department and the Royal Oman Police raided the house.

Authorities said, "A residential house was being used to prepare pastries in commercial quantities without a licence. The food was also being distributed to cafes and restaurants in Al Zahya area at Wilayat Muttrah."
