Muscat: Carrying a satellite phone to India could land you in trouble with authorities, the Indian embassy in Oman has warned.

"Foreigners traveling to India are advised not to carry or use Thuraya/Iridium satellite phones. Any foreigner found holding or carrying Thuraya/Iridium satellite phones would be prosecuted with confiscation of such satellite phones and other penalties under relevant provisions of the Indian Wireless Act and the Indian Telegraph Act," a statement issued by the Embassy of India in Oman said.
